Health plan: business model bankrupt?

Are there business models that come to an end? Can big companies end up because they have not been able to adapt to the changing times? Of course yes. Those who are over 30 years old have probably heard their parents tell that the phone used to be an investment. One bought a line and could even declare it in the income tax.

This model went bankrupt and others still breathe for gadgets hoping for a magical solution that will take them away from the industrial mindset. This is the case with health care providers. If in the 1960s they became the main solution for the public to get rid of the precarious public system, today they are the ones that suffer from scrapping.

On the one hand, doctors who earn few reals to make a care. On the other, the patients, who pay dearly for the plan, but can not enjoy the contracted network. In the midst of this dissatisfaction, a model of bureaucratic management, inflated and expensive for all, including for the operators.

After the emergence of ANS, which regulates the sector, there was a change in the movement of the main players in an attempt to adapt to the demands. But the essence of the business model has not changed. It pays dearly for the DISEASE to the detriment of HEALTH. The promotion of healthy living, quality of life and responsible use of medical services are not included in the operators' booklet.

Are they going to survive? In this model, I hope not. The health sector in Brazil today is a fertile ground for innovation, exploring new business models that meet market expectations and combine profit, efficient management, and innovation.
